One Kid.
One Idea. Real Change.
Will Abercrombie was 15 when he started Little Blessing Bags โ because he believed a single backpack, packed with care, could remind a child in crisis that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

Supporting Children Through Their Hardest Moments
Little Blessing Bags is a community initiative founded to support children experiencing crisis situations. We provide backpacks filled with essential items to help children feel prepared, supported, and cared for during difficult times.
We work directly with social workers embedded in area schools โ people who know their students and can discreetly place a bag in a child's hands at exactly the right moment. No paperwork. No stigma. Just a bag and a reminder that someone cares.
Little Blessing Bags operates under the umbrella of the nonprofit Angels in the Attic. EIN documentation is available upon request for donation purposes.

The Story Behind Little Blessing Bags
Seeing the Need Firsthand
Will's family has long volunteered with local organizations addressing food insecurity and supporting women and children leaving domestic violence situations. Through those experiences, he began noticing how many children were struggling with circumstances completely outside of their control โ and how rarely anyone was filling the gap.
Researching the Problem
Rather than act on instinct alone, Will dug into the data. He researched the connection between poverty, trauma, chronic absenteeism, and lower academic performance โ and found a consistent pattern: children facing homelessness, domestic violence, or sudden displacement were also the ones most likely to struggle in school and least likely to have their basic needs addressed.
Going Straight to the Experts
Will didn't assume he knew what was needed โ he asked the people who did. He personally interviewed eight social workers across multiple communities. The answer was consistent: children in crisis often lacked access to clean clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies. They simply didn't have what they needed to feel ready and confident walking through a school door.
Building the Model
From those conversations, a model took shape. Will built relationships with social workers at 20 area schools โ professionals who know their students and can discreetly place a bag in a child's hands when the need is greatest. In 2025, Little Blessing Bags distributed 75 backpacks across 14 schools. This is just the beginning.
I realized I did not want to simply recognize the problem โ I wanted to take action. Every child deserves to walk into school feeling prepared, supported, and cared for. That's what a Little Blessing Bag is about.

75 backpacks distributed to 14 schools. The model was proven, the partnerships established, and the community responded.
Goal: 200 Backpacks
Expanding to 20 schools and distributing year-round as urgent needs arise โ not just during scheduled drops.
A Replicable Model
Building a playbook so other young people in other communities can launch their own Little Blessing Bags chapter.
